The Hunmin jeongeum Society is pleased to announce the convening of the Second International Conference on October 8~9, 2010 at Seoul National University in Korea. We would like to request you to submit abstracts in any area of studying scripts (or writing systems) of languages in the world including the Korean alphabets by March 30, 2010. Participants could register for the conference from January 20, 2010, using the enclosed registration form.

<CALL FOR PAPERS>

Papers are invited in any area of grammatology in general. The Organizing Committee especially welcomes papers for both descriptive and theoretical accounts of scripts (writing systems). Scholars studying history, decipherment, letter shapes, orthography, computer coding, and linguistic characteristics of scripts are welcome to submit abstracts for 30-minute presentations (followed by 10 minutes for discussion).

l Abstracts should have no more than 400 words, excluding bibliographical references and illustrations, and not exceed two pages.

l Abstracts should be in English. Presentation will be conducted in English.

l Abstracts may only be submitted by e-mail (scripta08@gmail.com). Please submit an abstract as an attachment. Use MS Word, Times New Roman font, 12 point font size, and at least one inch margins. In the body of your e-mail, include the following information: title of paper, name, academic affiliation, address, phone and fax number, e-mail, and requests for audiovisual aids.
